Thornton Tomasetti is the premier structural engineering firm for sports and entertainment facilities. Projects include complex facilities such as open-air and retractable roof stadiums and arenas for professional, collegiate, and regional teams and convention centers.
In the past 20 years, we have performed engineering design services for more professional sports facilities than any other firm. Our experience spans both design and renovation, and facilities dedicated to single use as well as multi-purpose arenas and sports/entertainment centers. Our portfolio includes convention centers, arenas, ballparks and outdoor stadiums for Major League Baseball, the National Football League, the National Hockey League, and the National Basketball Association.
Current and recent projects include:
- The new Yankees Stadium in New York;
- Nationals Ball Park in Washington, D.C., where we applied Building Information Modeling in a fast-track design that saved three months of construction time;
- The renovation of Soldier Field for the Chicago Bears, which includes a new 63,000-seat stadium bowl that is fitted within the historic 1920s shell of the current facility, a new underground parking garage for 2,500 cars, and four levels of luxury suites;
- The Prudential Center in New Jersey, a mixed-use arena that will be the home for the New Jersey Devils hockey team.
